One of my great experiences from Brazil is the people that I met. I enjoyed meting new people, even if I did not understand them. Brazilian, in my opinion, are very friendly people. They were willing to try to help me in whatever I was trying to do.
I met some really great Godly men. It was awesome to getting to know these men.
Helio – I met Helio my second week in Brazil. He went with the team to do a couple of medical clinics. My second meeting was at CamPaz where he pulled me aside and wanted to talk. We talked in broken Portuguese/English.
Nil – I met Nil on my first trip to Brazil in 2007. He drove one of the kombis’ from the airport to Castanhal. As I climb into the front sit I said, “Hi my name is Paul.” “I’m Nil.” He replied. (Thinking oh great he speaks English.) I ask Nil a question and he answer “I do not speak English”. I got to see Nil a few more times that week.
On Sunday June 6, 2008 as I walked into Igreja da Paz I heard “Pol!!!” (aka Paul) and it was Nil! I was great to see him again. I got to see Nil quite a bit as the churches office was at the mission house. I saw Nil the Sunday after my brother’s death and he said with his arm around me, “Lamento ter de ouvir sobre o seu irmão. Estou orando por você e sua família.” “I am sorry Nil I do not understand” in a soft voice, I kind of knew in my head what he had said. “I am sorry to hear about your brother. I am praying for you and your family.”
There were many more great Godly men that I got the privileged of meeting. I could defiantly see Jesus in their lives; they radiated Jesus in their lives.
